We are a vibrant group entering our fifth year. Join us and meet like-minded people.


We’re delighted to invite you to our monthly meetings at which we have a speaker. We also engage in debate and campaigning. No need to be a member.


If you’d like to become a member, just print off and complete the form below and bring to a monthly meeting, with the joining fee of £12 (cash or cheque made payable to Nottingham Secular Society). Forms also available at the meetings.


Membership Application Form

The Aim of the Society is to promote the benefits of Secularism and to seek the creation of a just and equitable secular society in our city, county and country.

Membership is open to any person who submits their application to the Secretary or Treasurer and who accepts the Aims and Rules of the Society, and the Secular Charter.

The Membership Fee is £12 per year, non-refundable.

Members Rights

Members have the right to vote on proposed motions at monthly meetings and the AGM.

Members have the right to chair monthly meetings subject to an advance request.

Members gain the right to be appointed to positions on the Executive and Sub-Committees.

Members will benefit from a reduced fee for monthly meetings (£1, Visitors £3), and reductions at other Society events with the exception of stated fund-raising events.

General Rules

There shall be a yearly Annual General Meeting (AGM) at one month’s notice given by the Secretary. The AGM will elect a President, Secretary, Treasurer and other Committee Members, establish or change the Rules, review the Accounts, set Membership Fees, have the power to disband the Society.

The AGM shall consider any valid proposals submitted by two members of the Society, to the Secretary or Treasurer, at least one month before the meeting.

A Special General Meeting (SGM) may be called at one month’s notice upon notification to the Secretary or Treasurer by at least five members. An SGM shall have the same powers as an AGM.
